Saturday Morning Rush
Ok, picture it…Saturday morning, you’ve just crawled out of bed. The sun is just beginning to rise. You’ve got on your fav fuzzy footie pajamas, and so you do what naturally comes next… crack on the tv. Heathcliff, The Flintstones, Scooby Doo, and Garfield are in full effect. But wait, something’s missing. What? Oh yeah, it’s CEREAL!!! Sugary, brain tingling, teeth rotting, tummy boiling cereal. Oh and not just any cereal… Oh no baby, we’re talking SUGAR SMACKS aka Honey Smacks! That little green frog, with his hip blue hat, got kids through childhood. It’s the stuff that made champions, heroes, and yes even batman ate Sugar Smacks for breakfast. Actually now that I think of it, Sugar Smacks, Captain Crunch, Franken Berries, Lucky Charms, and Trix were like a kid’s rite of passage.
But now, being wiser I know that a bowl full of sugar isn’t the best way to start the day. Though tasty, it’s definitely going to make your energy dip & your head spin and your moods swing. Why even bother? So determined to enjoy those famous childhood goodies I headed off to the grocery store. What did I find? Honey Smacks has a whopping 15 grams of sugar per serving. Totally HORRIFIED I knew that if I ever wanted that taste again, I was going to have to figure it out myself. That set the course for my next recipe a Sugar Free Honey Smacks Copycat.
Guess what guys? This was easy! I mean SO easy that you would make this and be having a bowl in about 25 minutes. This recipe for Sugar Free Honey Smacks will feed your appetite for sugar, and having you singing the theme song to Scooby Doo before you know it. Ready for the big secret ingredient? Puffed wheat. That’s it. Just puffed wheat.
I mean look at these delicious little morsels, they look almost exactly like Honey Smacks without all of that sugar!!
